These home remedies are convenient, inexpensive and efficiently alleviates discomfort.

The different types of allergic reactions on the skin are mostly redness, red itchy bumps as in hives, affected area having defined edges as in urticaria, pus or liquid oozing out of the welts, mild inflammation in the area etc.

What causes Skin Allergies?

When the immune system confronts a protein from any external source like food, pollen, makeup etc which it cannot identify it gets the body in an auto immune mode. The body starts producing IgE antibodies which causes over production of a substance called histamine from the mast cells of the gut, pharynx and abdomen. Histamine irritates the nerve endings below the skin and brings about the variety of skin reactions experienced in allergies.

    • Clean your skin

      : It is extremely important to maintain proper cleanliness and hygiene to avoid and reduce the intensity of skin allergies. A lot of allergens are in the air and can stick to clothes, hair and skin exacerbating the allergic reactions on the skin. Use an antiseptic based soap and take a bath twice a day especially after coming from outside. Dry yourself well with a clean towel and wear washed clothes.

      : In food related allergies, a lot of times the food eaten raw results in allergies. Try cooking and processing the food item before eating. This might make it less potent and less allergic.

 

    • Use natural cosmetics

      : Cosmetics can make skin reactions worse. Use cosmetics which are based on natural elements.

 

    • Castor Oil

      : 5-6 drops of castor oil mixed with fruit juice, vegetable juice or plain water taken first thing in the morning is beneficial for the allergies of the intestinal tract, skin and nasal passages.

      : Two table spoons of lemon or lime juice in a glass of lukeworm water with a teaspoon of honey can help flush out toxins from the system.Lime is a popular anti allergic substance. A paste of lime juice and sandalwood applied on the skin rash can reduce itching.

Papaya

      : Application of mashed papaya seeds on the skin can help with intense itching.

Banana

    • Poppy seeds

      : Make a paste with 1 table spoon of poppy seeds, water and lime juice and apply on the affected area. This will give relief from the intense itching and discomfort.

Mint

      : Make a paste of a few leaves of garden mint and mix it in a glass of water. Sieve the water and sip it in regular intervals. This helps to cool down the body and prevent skin reactions like heat rash.

Yogurt

    • Yogurt

      : Yogurt is rich in gut friendly probiotics. A lot of times the excess histamine produced in allergies can wreak a havoc in the digestive system. Yogurt can help minimize the gastrointestinal discomfort and reduce the manifestation of allergic symptoms on the skin.

Coconut

    • Coconut oil and Coconut water

      : Coconut water can have a calming effect on the body and reduce allergic symptoms on the skin. Coconut oil is a hypoallergenic emollient and can provide relief.

Apart from the above home remedies, it is extremely important to eat healthy, sleep well and exercise to give a boost to the immune system. The stronger the immune system the better one is equipped to fight with any adverse physical reactions.
