Allergy and Asthma Link

A recent research study shows that the reason for more than 50% of the current asthma sufferers is allergies. And, almost 30% of these asthma cases can be attributed to cat allergies.

It is a big question since long – whether asthma can be linked to genetic factors? This study comes up with ‘yes’. It is found that in almost 56.3 of the current asthma sufferers the conditions happen due to gene-environment interactions. This can be found out by a positive skin test to the allergens.

It is found out that cat allergies are the major risk factor for asthma. So, as a parent, if you suspect that your child might have cat allergies you should come up with a proper family health plan to avoid asthma problems.

Though this study claims that allergies are the major risk factor for asthma, it did not answer why many people who get asthma don’t have allergies. Still a lot of research has to be done to find out what is causing asthma that is not related to allergies.
