Are suffering from dust allergy as well as asthma? Hey… then you can control your allergic breakouts by making Dust Free Bedroom. Many a times it observed that dust contains fibers, molds and minute dust mites. These minute dust mites live during summer season and dies in winter. They reside in your furniture like beddings, carpets and upholstered furniture.
Here are few tips which will help you in making your bedroom- dust free.
- For a dust free bedroom you need to clean your bedroom regularly. This would also reduce cockroach exposure.
- You need to decrease the number of surfaces from your bedroom on which dust can accumulate.
- Your dust control program would be impossible if your floor is carpeted. So for dust control task give more preference to linoleum, tile or hardwood floors.
- If you don’t want to remove your carpet, then you can treat the carpet with tannic acid. This would be helpful in removing some dust mite allergens.
- It’s better to keep one bed in your bedroom. The most important thing is to enclose the mattresses and box springs with allergen-proof or dust proof covers.
- Whenever you want to scrub your bed springs, remember to do the scrubbing outside your bedroom.
- If you have pets especially furred ones then don’t allow them to enter your bedroom.
- It’s better if you use washable materials like bed sheets, blankets, pillow covers and other bed clothing on your bed.
- It is advisable for you to wash all your bed clothing regularly and with hot water (130° F).
- It is better if you keep minimum furniture in your bedroom. Wash your bedroom curtains at least twice in a month in hot water.
- You can use a dehumidifier in your bedroom as this would restrict the growth of dust mites.
- If your child is allergic to dust then keep out stuff toys from his reach and give him washable toys made up of rubber, metal, plastic or wood to play.
- Avoid using woolen, feather or fuzzy blankets.
- First empty and then clean all your bedroom closets. You can seal your clothes in plastic zippered bags.
- Thorough scrubbing and cleaning is required to remove traces of dust from your wooden work and floors. If you are using linoleum for your floor then make sure that it is cemented to the floor.
You might find these steps difficult to follow, but the result of these steps like lesser allergy attacks, better breathing etc. would encourage you to follow these steps regularly.
