Babies can be protected from the onslaught of allergic asthma through feeding them with breast milk. Through breast milks airborne allergen can pass to child from mother, and this process eventually creates easiness towards the allergen.
It is approximately estimated that allergic asthma leaves its impact on 300 million people all over the world. The main characteristic of the allergic asthma is obstructing the respiratory paths after having the exposure to allergen. The prevalence of this disease has increased recently. It is happening due to the sudden shifts in environmental factors.
Association between Breast Milk and Allergies & Asthma
According to recent research study the mother can pass on immunity to some of the common infections through the breast milk. Apart from breast milk, any other milk can consist of potentially allergenic components.
According to most of the researchers the connection between breast milk and asthma remains equivocal till now. But researchers are of the opinion that feeding babies only on breast milk at least for first four months has a strong link with allergies and asthma.
It is suggested that the more significant thing is feeding babies exclusively on breast milk excluding other milks than breastfeeding for a long time.
Though it is a controversial issue that whether breast feeding can give a protection against asthma and allergies but most of the researchers agree one particular point that feeding a baby exclusively on breast milk for minimum four months is linked with a significant reduction of asthma and allergies at the age of 6 years. It also makes a significant delay at onset of asthma and wheezing.
