Some of the recent research studies reveal that the metabolic impact of inhaled insulin can be influenced by the severity of several pulmonary diseases and the position of asthma treatment.
See What Research Suggests
In an open-label, that is conducted by some Austrian researchers and called as crossover euglycemic clamp study, some mildly but healthy asthmatic patients are randomly assigned in a group and in the other group some moderately asthmatic participants are assigned. Those patients fall in the age group of 19 to 58 years.
As a consequence it is found that the healthy participants with mild asthma assigned to inhaled insulin showed about a 34% lower overall insulin exposure than those who are with moderate asthma and assigned to inhaled insulin revealed about a 41% lower overall exposure.
Findings suggest that pulmonary function is not affected by pulmonary inhaled insulin. According to researchers, the severities of pulmonary disease as well as the status of asthma treatment do not influence the tolerability or pulmonary safety of the inhaled insulin.
