Nitrate Allergy Symptoms
Nitrate is the chemical compound found in various foods. It is used as a preservative for foods. Nitrate allergy symptoms are found in some people by eating processed foods. The people who are sensitive to this chemical might suffer serious headaches to migraines due to nitrate allergy.
Nitrate allergy leads to different symptoms in different people. It may cause headaches in some people and in some other symptoms like urticaria, asthma and rhinitis. The natural sources of nitrates are cauliflower, broccoli, beets, potatoes, lettuce and spinach. Allergic Symptoms of Nitrates
When a person consumes nitrates in any form, it changes to nitrite form in the body. Nitrites leads to a chemical reaction, which leaches oxygen from the blood. People sensitive to nitrates may experience the following symptoms :
- Asthma complications
- Skin irritation – Hives, itching, redness and swelling
These nitrate allergy symptoms can be observed within few minutes of nitrate ingestion. Nitrate allergy can be avoided by preventing foods containing nitrate. Oral and topical antihistamines can be given for treatment of nitrate allergy. To reduce irritation and inflammation, inhalers can be used.
