Types of Food Allergy

Various kinds of food allergies are common in nearly 8% of toddlers belonging to age group of 1 to 4 years. In such cases, food allergy test should be done on one’s own free will and they must check the child’s overall skin or other allergy symptoms. Through studies, it is revealed that infants and toddlers with weak digestive system or immune system are more likely to suffer from allergies.

When certain type of food is taken by a child, the immune system develops special type of antibodies called IgE (Immunoglobulin E). When that particular food is again give to a child, IgE releases histamine and other chemicals. This result in upset stomach, skin rashes, diarrhea, swelling, wheezing and in extreme cases anaphylaxis.

People with dairy allergy are advised to avoid daily products. For quick allergy relief, antihistamines prescribed by doctor should be taken. The allergy to hen’s eggs, cow’s milk, soybeans and wheat can subside with time, but allergy to sea foods, tree nuts and peanut do not generally subside with time. Family history also influence allergies.
