Allergy Symptoms

The main signs and symptoms are categorized as mild, moderate, or severe.

Mild Allergy Symptoms

Mild allergy symptoms can include:

  • Congestion
  • Localized itching
  •  Rash
  • Mild allergic reactions do not spread to other parts of the body

Moderate Allergy Symptoms

In moderate allergy, the symptoms spread to other parts of the body like:

  • Widespread itching
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Severe Allergy Symptoms (Anaphylaxis)

Anaphylaxis occurs very rarely and is a life threatening complication. In this the body’s response to the allergen affects the whole body within minutes. It is a serious sign and needs immediate treatment. Some of the other signs are:

  • Diarrhea
  • Itching of eyes or face
  • Vomiting
  • Cramps
  • Abdominal pain
  • Swelling that makes swallowing and breathing difficult

These were some of the signs depending upon the severity of the allergic reaction. Now there are
certain signs which occur on face, throat, lungs, etc. Some of the symptoms are:

  • Lungs: Wheezing, cough, tightness, or shortness of breath
  • Skin: Redness, swelling, irritation, crusting, blisters, eruptions, rashes, or hives
  • Nose: Runny nose or stuffy nose with clear, thin discharge and sneezing along with hoarseness of voice
  • Eyes: Reddish discoloration, swollen, itchy and watery eyes
  • Head: Bumps or swelling on the neck and face, lips, eyelids, throat, and tongue along with headache
  • Stomach: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea
  • Other Signs: Sore throat and fatigue
