It is common that some babies are allergic to eggs. But the good factor is that normally most kids outgrow this problem by age 5 and start eating eggs with no problems after that . However, it needs to be taken care, as the most likely victims of Egg Allergy are, children below five.

If a person is having food allergy, his or her body treats the food as a dangerous substance. The same thing happens to little kids who take eggs because their immune system isn’t fully equipped to handle the protein in eggs. The immune system uses its antibodies to fight with the egg protein treating it as a harmful invader. A baby allergic to eggs may feel sick or get a rash after taking them or any food containing them.

Signs and Symptoms

These are some symptoms which a kid may experience due to egg allergy:

How is it diagnosed?

If your baby gets a rash or gets sick after eating eggs, avoid giving eggs until your baby gets older. Consult your doctor to know when to try eggs again. If your kid is older and is reacting to eggs, your kid should not eat eggs or anything that contains eggs until consulting a doctor. The doctor may do a skin test on your kid. This is a common way to check for egg allergies.

Think of alternatives

If your kid is avoiding eggs, you have to make sure that your kid is still getting enough protein from other foods. Meat, fish, poultry and legumes are other protein-rich foods.
